My female Krib has lost her purple belly. It was very purple yesterday and today she's almost translucent. As I'm typing she is showing a little more purple but no where near normal. She's just acting all lethargic to and didn't eat today.

Water Test:

PH 6.4
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20-40 kind of high

Could it be the nitrates are to high and causing her stress? All the other fish are doing fine.

IME my female is only really bright when she's in mommy mode. I've even had my male lose a lot of his color if they don't have eggs or fry.

I've noticed they tend to have more color when together, but if they've had a fight and are hanging out in opposite ends of the tank their colors are a lot more subdued.
Not sure if they really have fights, but just what I've noticed .

Glad she seems back to normal. Maybe an extra wc if you feel your nitrAtes are a bit high?

^_^
