Lately I have noticed one of my neons has a decent sized lump on its belly. I previously had another with the same symtoms, but some how it died for reasons unknown (one day it was gone) My tank is all community fish so I don;t think anyone is eating each other, but i have never found remains of dead fish. Though I have also have 2 danios dissapear. The neon shows no signs of being ill, though it does tend to swim alone sometimes, much like the last neon with the same symptoms, but otherwise is fine. Is this lump a disease, or is it pregnant?

I don't think it's pregnant...

Could you tell us a bit about your tank?

Like how many gallons is it for starters? What filtration do you have on it?

How long has it been set up for and cycled?

Can we see a list of tankmates?

In the meantime, you can also try the disease ID thing on the site, click [link=here]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/disease/" style="COLOR: #3c4e82[/link]for it

Lastly, what are the water params? Not just "fine", exact readings, for temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte. That should help us a little more, as will a picture.

My tank is a 20 gallon high tank with a penguin 170 bio-wheel filter and also a penguin 170 power head.

My tank has been set up about 1 year and been cycled about 2 - 3 months shy of that.

5 - brilliant rasboras
4 - neon tetras (used to be 5 but 1 dissapeared)
3 - zebra danios (used to be 5 but 2 dissapeared)
3 - bronze cory cats
1 - gold algea eater

Temp - 78 degrees
Amonia - near 0 ppm
Nitrite - near 0 ppm
Nitrate - 10ish ppm ( had a Nitrate spike due to lack of maintance and have been changing 25% weekly to reduce)

As for a picture I'll post a link to my yahoo pictures as soon as possible

I had this problem with rasboras recently. Their stomachs got huge to the point of looking boxy.

All I can say it, your tetras are not pregnant-- they don't *get* pregnant, only livebearers like guppies, mollies, etc can. You're probably looking at a disease of some kind. Keep on top of the maintenance and vary their diet.
