I was at a chain store today buying a heater and I walked by a tank and noticed that one of the dwarf platies was missing her dorsal fin. :#( I was so sad and asked the salesperson what he was going to do with the injured fish and he said he was going to probably feed it to the oscars. ] I told him that it was cruel, but he said it was policy. So then i offered to take her, and he said i would have to pay for her.

Well after all that i felt so bad, that i bought her (only $0.99) . Well now she is in my 6 gallon eclipse with my male betta, he is so friendly to other fish and has not bothered her in the least bit. I am afraid she is too small to move to my community so i want to treat her. Do you think it is possible for her fin to regrow? I added some stresscoat, should i add some salt? What about melafix? Any suggestions welcome.

P.S. My sister came with me and named her Kiss..

Melafix is the only thing I have ever had any measure of sucess using to regrow damaged/missing fins. Lots of water changes and be sure any other fish don't pick on her. If you aren't noticing any improvement after about a month stop. As long as she can get around and eat she can live with the deformity just fine.

Well i do not know what happened, she just dissapeared. There are no confusing decorations in the tank and really nowhere for her to hide where i could not have seen her, it is only 6 gallons. But she is gone now, i am so sad. Hopefully she had a day of happiness...:#(

Any way she could have jumped out of the tank? Looking around on the floor has found a lot of my "missing" fish in the past; they are escape artists.



I'm so sorry, I hate losing any fish; especially like that.
