My molly ( and for those that remember she thinks shes a danio) is about 8-9 months old now, and the last week has been slowing down tremendously and hanging behind one of the HOB filters more than shes out and swimming around with the danios.

No signs of anything- comes out to eat, then back to her spot. I know mollies have short life spans-Could she just be getting old?? Thats what im leaning towards- just checking though.

Tank peramiters are fine- 0/0/10- everyone else is fine.
she doesnt look egg bound either.

HCA how long has it been since she was last with a male? They can store sperm for several months. She could be in labor or in a troubled labor.

Ive had her since she was a SMALL fry- about 1 month old, since ive had her, she's never been in the same tank with a male livebearer of any type.

Dont know what is going on- she was very active, and is drastically slowing down.

Hmmm - any signs of redness in the eyes, base of fins, or the belly?

Excess slime?

Look closely at the gills for any signs of "stuff" that looks like it is hanging out when she breathes. Is she breathing fast?

Ive inspected her closely several times- over several days, she has no other symptoms. Im baffled.
edit to add there are lots of hiding places- why behind the HOB?

More o2?

Check again to make sure she is not respirating heavily.

Surface tension?

What kind of filter do you have on this tank? What size is it?

- I love this kind of ending . That sounds like the time I panicked thinking my guppy had ich or something because I saw him rubbing against the gravel. Turns out he was "stirring" up the food. I've had him 2.5 years and he does this all the time. He'll hover over a shrimp pellet, then kind of roll into it at which time he snacks on the stuff that stirs up. . The white clouds always follow him for the extras and the rasboras are too dumb to figure it out
