Hello

I have recently brought 4 Clown Loaches, the next morning I came down and they had very small white spots on them but are very lively swimming around. On the white spot bottle I have it says to be wary of diagnosing white spot especially on clown Loach as it may be a sign of poor water quality in the tank. Is this the case, as all the Barbs and Flying fox are fine and the water quality is ok according to tests. The only one thing is that the PH maybe slightly higher than what was at the fish shop. They are all swimming round ok at the moment, seem quite happy, good dark colourings, what I do not want to do if it is white spot is to leave it. If not white spot and they do acquire white spots when poor water quality do not want to put any treatmant in that will damage them.

Does anyoe hae any suggestions whether this could be white spot or not?

Thanks

I wouldn't mind betting it is white spot...

You have to remember too, that although your water is great, the tanks they came from at the shop may well have been less than perfect, and fishshop tanks are notorious for being a haven for ich. Also, since it sounds like it turned up the day after you bought them, I'm even more convinced

If it was me, personally, I would treat them for it, going by the directions on the bottle (which should be a half dose for scaleless fish).

Regards,
Dex

I used coppersafe on my tanks when they held clown loaches. Even full dose was fine. The real issue is being sure that a tank treated with coppersafe does not contain any inverts, snails, etc and will never be converted to marine.

Rid Ich Plus by Kordon is safe for scaleless fish, as is RX-P by Kent Marine (i use this one).
Copper is supposedly very harmful to scaleless fish and invertebrates, I wouldnt risk it.

Coppersafe is perfectly fine with scaleless fish. You should have used a medicine before offering advice on it.

I have coppersafed multiple scaleless species with no adverse effect.

Koi knows her way around the "Clown Loach farm" and has the correct info...

Some of the copper treatments are time-release/buffered and I believe those are the one's she's promoting.
