I have an angel that has been in my tank for a few weeks (my tank is only just finishing up cycling so most of the fish are less than 3 weeks old). I have noticed it has one small white spot on its tail. It has been there about 2 days i think. My temp is currently 25 degrees celcius. I am assuming it is ich - i am removing him from the tank today and putting him in a hospital tank. Will the community tank be infected? No other fish have any white spots yet. I have read up on how to treat the ich, i'm just wondering whether my main tank will need medicating as well. Ammonia - using ammolock so not sure. Nitrite - 0ppm, Nitrate - 10ppm. thanks!

best keep him in tank and just treat entire tank with an 'ich' or 'white spot remedy' as the parasite may be floating around tank, ready to attack another fish.

If you get it early enough, successful treatment is easily accomplished.

Although you might not see it on the other fish it is a fast spreading disease so it is best to treat them all together and keep a close watch on their skin. Good luck! Watch for changes in their behavior b/c u might not see the white spots but sometimes they act weird and you can tell something is affecting them.

Like was said, with ich, just because you dont' see it on the fish doesn't mean that they wont get it. You have to treat the entire tank, not just the fish showing symptoms, and for the entire lenght of time given on the meds.
Since it sounds like you used these fish for cycling, and cycling= stress, stress = ich it's not @all shocking that your fish would end up with ich, especially fish like angels that aren't as cycle hardy as most.

Add your meds, I've used maricide in the past, depending on what fish you have you may need different meds, once the meds are in the tank you can slowly increase the temperature and airation of the tank for the entire time you are medicating according the your meds directions. Do NOT stop treatment early.
