Not really sure what it is from your description, but it would be beneficial if you could post your water parameters for us. Need your ammonia level, nitrites and nitrates. If you don't have a test kit you can take a water sample to your lfs and they should test it for you. Get the actual readings from them, not just that the water is fine.

Welcome to FP.

Does the infected area have a fuzzy look to it?

Welcome to FP

If you can, test your water for: pH, nitItes, nitrAtes and ammonia. If you don't have a test kit, most fish stores will test your water free, or for a small fee.

Head and lateral line erosion, AKA hole in the head AKA HIH looks like what is pictured on this site]http://www.theoscarspot.com/hith.htm[/link], and a more advanced case can be seen [link=here. The bast way to describe it is chunks of skin and flesh missing from the head area, and along the lateral line. Does this look like what your oscar has?

HIH is VERY hard to clear up. The first site I linked to suggests several things you can do, but before doing any of them make sure it is safe for any other fish you have in the aquarium. What sixe is your tank, and are there any other inhabitants?

EDIT: Aquarium Pharmaceuticals makes a master test kit that I've never had any problems with.
