The fish were in a 10 gal tank and there were 2 platies, and 2 white clouds. There are no longer any platies and Only White clouds are in the tank. All levels were kept neutral. When the fish died there was a lot of algae in the tank. And the other day I found a dead otto in my 29 gal that used to belong to my goldfish. There were 3 feeder sized zebra danios and three feeder sized white clouds and one larger one. It was not planted either. Thanks for the help Cory_Di.

What kind of tank is it you had them in when you found them with purple bellies? What other fish were in there and what size was it?

What were the parameters (Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, temp).

Was it planted?

I'll let you read the article by calilessia. It is long, but stick with it, print it out and take your time reading it.

I have seen a lot of diseases but I have never heard of "Dropsy". What does the disease do to the otto? Any other help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at [link=this post]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Bottom%20Feeder%20Frenzy/48796.html" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link]
It should help address the issue of why they die.

Not sure I can give anything firm about the purple belly, did notice that on one of mine that I'm fairly sure died from dropsy.
