So i notice this "spot" about a week ago, and it looked like it was a small cut, or scratch..but it was tiny..now its at least trippled in size! please help me figure out what to do. It's looks like it has a "cotton" texture...

my tank parameters are ALL normal.

all 0's for the bad stuff.. 10 for the Nitrate , and 6.8 pH - Kh 3

only thing new added was this a resin cave.. month ago

water changes 20% weekly

It looks like a wound that has gotten infected with some sort of fungus or other organism. I would go to the LFS and check out the Maracyn products (made by Mardel) and see if they have the one that fits what your fish has (it gives desciptions on the box/bottle). Once you have it, start treating the tank immediately.

Good luck with your fish and welcome to FishProfiles.

I agree, looks like an infected wound... Great pics and thanks for supplying all of the necessary info. Rather than treating with anything mardel (just because they are more specialized and we don't know exactly WHAT organism that is) I would treat with Jungle Fungus Eliminator. It contains a fungicide and an antibiotic so all of your bases are covered. It looks to me like columnaris or "body fungus," if that is the case then Jungle Fungus Eliminator will work nicely. It is available at petsmart and most other fish and pet shops. Just my opinion.

It certainly looks like an infected wound to me. As far as any medications I have no idea. I would certainly take it to your LFS and get the correct medication and follow it as per instructions.

I also be trying to find out what caused the damage in the first place. Was it another fish or did it scratch its self on the new cave or any other sharp object.

Keep us informed on the progress of your pet.

Keith

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
