Clove oil and vodka are also a way to go, for those that have them on hand (since vodka comes from potatos I'm not surprised joe suggested it). Freezing is actually one of the most painful, on the part of the fish, ways to euthanize. Also, if you have the stomach for it, I still think that decapitation with subsequent piercing of the brain offers the quickest, most painless way to euthanize a fish. Joe Potato
