P - I hope you did a partial water change. Today he is pale; tomorrow he may be gone.

If the filter is overloaded, then you would need to get another filter going for now, or remove some of the load. Pet stores sell cheapo sponge filters which are great biological filters. You just plug an air pump line to it (always use a check valve). Set it up, stick it to a wall, then dump some NIC right near it in the water. It will buy you time. They work great during power outages when switched over to a battery operated pump.

Many breeders use them exclusively in fry tanks because they have low suction and are fry safe.
