	Parasites?

I keep seeing white speckles on quite a few of the fish, but it is not Ich... I am almost positive, otherwise they would be covered by now.. what else looks like this.... its mostly on the sides of their bodies..... What can I do? 72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up 75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

longhairedgit Fish Guru Lord of the Beasts Posts: 2502 Kudos: 1778 Votes: 29 Registered: 21-Aug-2005	It probably is whitespot, sometimes cyclical reinfestation can persist for years if the fish are already resistant. Failing that there are a few skin conditions and parasites that can give a similar look to a whitespot infestation. Post a decent macro pic if you can that allows us to see the spots. Failing that , treat them for it with a nice broad spectrum treatment like esha exit or similar, and see if there is an improvement.

Truth doesn't always win friends but it influences them

HOKESE Mega Fish Posts: 1105 Kudos: 478 Votes: 271 Registered: 22-Feb-2003	do they seem irritated,like shaking or scraping against things,maybe youve seen them flickingit sounds like a mild csae of white spot,as said above maybe try a multicure,ive had great succsess with this stuff

HOKESE Mega Fish Posts: 1105 Kudos: 478 Votes: 271 Registered: 22-Feb-2003	well there is heaps of treatments,that one we are talking about is called MULTICURE,ive found it better as it has both,mala green and meth blue in it,its worked well for me and fast to....but this will trash your bio filter,there is a few meds that u can get that dont harm your bio filter,i forget the name,i think its called protozineive herd great stuff about this,but im not sure on the name,ill try to find out....
