I keep looking at my malawi tank and being paranoid, and I fear i might have to take action... I keep seeing white speckles on quite a few of the fish, but it is not Ich... I am almost positive, otherwise they would be covered by now.. what else looks like this.... its mostly on the sides of their bodies..... What can I do?

It probably is whitespot, sometimes cyclical reinfestation can persist for years if the fish are already resistant. Failing that there are a few skin conditions and parasites that can give a similar look to a whitespot infestation. Post a decent macro pic if you can that allows us to see the spots. Failing that , treat them for it with a nice broad spectrum treatment like esha exit or similar, and see if there is an improvement.

can you give any other details apart from white spots? are they lethargic? eating ?
does it look like a fungal growth?

as git suggested try a broad spectrum med such as multi cure.. it covers a few diseases and may help.

I am guessing, based on where you are all located, that I have no idea what a Multicure is......someone want to get me some brand names to help me out?
