Has anybody used PimaFix? If you have, would you mind telling me if you are satisfied with this product (i.e. did it work)? I am currently using it to treat what I have diagnosed as Ich (little white raised dots on my fish – please correct me if I misdiagnosed).

Angel

Pimafix is not intended for the treatment of Ich. I'd probably recommend using other treatments for Ich. Ich is a pretty common disease and most treatments designed for Ich are usually brand named with the word "Ich". Anything of that nature would work 10 times better than Pimafix on Ich.

Pimafix is primarily used to treat mouth and body fungus infections as well as minor bacterial infections in the fins.

I concur with Betahex. A very good ich treatment that I have had success with is called Maracide by Mardel. But really anything with the ingredient Malachite Green should do the trick...Good Luck and keep us posted!

Yeah, it's possible that the malachite green can stain your silicone, but not to any great extent. It depends on the amount you use (dosing) and how long you use it. I think the silicone will eventually fade back to whatever color it was previously. This is my experience anyways. Hope your fish do well!

Will Maracide cause any problems to my snails (not apple snails, the other black ones)?

If you are worried about staining, i think there is a clear solution, Coppersafe or RidIch or something, i am not sure which one.

ALL will damage your snails (and shrimp and mussels etc), so remove the snails to a separate container while you are treating.
After a FULL TREATMENT use carbon in your filter to absorb all the excess medication.

ICH MOVES FAST, so do not wait to treat as as soon as it gets into the gills you will have a horrid time getting rid of it.

I have already bought Maracide; I will begin treatment this afternoon. Do I need to worry about my Yo-Yo Loach? I read somewhere on the internet that Maracide's new biospheres formula does not go well with loaches. Is this true?

Keep in mind the trick to keep ich out of your tank is to "perfectly" match the new water change temp to the tank temp...

And, many hobbyists realize that some of their fish contract ich but others in the same tank do not.

Purely an immune thing. Feed your fish the proper diet to build and maintain that immunity.

"Rid Ich Plus" should have been your med choice for ich.

Anything with copper in it, or staining dyes will/could harm your clown loach. As Gary Roland said, Rid Ich Plus by Kordon should have been your first choice, as it is safe for scaleless fish, another that is also safe for scaleless fish is RX-P by Kent Marine.
Heavy metals (copper) and Dyes (Malachite Green, Gentian Violet, Methylene Blue) will also harm, if not kill Loaches and other scaleless fish. Remove these fish to a new location during treatment. You should gravel vac prior to treatment to remove any ich cysts in the gravel. Keep your temp around 80F, and watch the fish carefully during treatment. Aquarium salt may help, but may not as well. I have found limited use with it.
Ich is always in your tank. Fish are immune to it. Water changes with different (5-10degrees or more) temperatures can stress your fish, as can additions of medicine and new fish. This makes them susceptible to ich. Feed quality foods and try some frozen foods dosed with garlic and/or vitamins while the fish are sick.
Good Luck.
