The skin on my pleco has recently turned a pinkish white and I am not sure what this means. The tank is a 55 gal. and the pleco is approx. 4 in. long. The tank is well established and has been disease and infection free for over a year. There are no new additions and the tank has three angles, one black moor, 2 rasboras, and 4 neon tetras. The ammonia, nitrate, and ph are all at normal levels, and have remained constant for the last year. Im stumped. Oh, and I am running a fluval 304 plus another generic filter, much like a bio-wheel.

You posted a nitrAte value but did you mean nitrIte??...

If you meant nitrIte then test for nitrAtes and post the results.
