It seems one of my Golden barbs ran into something and had one of his eyes popped out...

wetweb has some faqs saying to add epsom salt to help (deflate?) his eye

copied from one of the faqs

I saw you recommended isolating the fish to another tank and using Epson salt, but I only have a fish bowl I could use. Will a molly survive in a bowl vs. tank to administer the treatment?<Hmmm... in this case, since the symptom is suspected to be non-contagious, you can treat it in the main tank]

If so, how much Epson salt do I use? <one tablespoon per five gallons then repeat after three days with another half dose. A water change in between will be helpful]]

This sound good?
Any disagreements?
if not, this is the course of action I will take

oh yeah, if you have any questions ask

I attempted to add another female betta to my existing group of six. She ran rampant through my peaceful community tank and two of the girls threw themselves against the gravel to get away from her. Yeah, they wound up with pop eye. *glares at the newly dubbed Jezebel, the betrayer*

I fed the girls medicated food (I dipped flake food into water, then powdered tetracycline) and dosed the tank with the meds, too. The poor things were miserable, couldn't see well and spent most of their time huddled in the plants or near the surface of the water. However, they've healed nicely and look almost normal now (about a week or so after treatment). For a while there, you could see how swollen the side of their face was, where they'd hit the gravel. Very scary... *wants to huggle her girls now*

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

Alright, thanks

Luckily though, the golden barb's eye seems to have deflated a little bit, but I will still be treating unless anyone else has a better way to treat(epsom salt and some medicated food)

edit: also the golden barb with the popped eye still comes out to eat, and seems just as active

It seems the eye is deflating on its own...
