It could be. then again it might not. cant really tell cos you havent really said much. perhaps you could give us a better description. such as does the tail look frayed? or discolored? a photo would be best and it might be a good idea to tell us ur water parameters. particularly nitrates/nitrites if u could.

also is it just this single fish and how long has the tail been like this?

Also might be a good idea to have a look at the relavent page dealing with fin rot on this website. find it under the interactive menu.

no i would have to say it is not fin rot. if it doesn't look red or infected then it might have just got damaged. but always to be on the safe side, go to the lfs and get med. i would say bettamax for fin rot, but don't no if it works with goldfish, or if there is a better one.

I dnt think it is fin rot, just had a look and I can see tail fragments as though its growin back. I think it may have injured itself, all other fish look good. I have medicated tank, so hopefully she'll b ok. Although shes not movin much

she may just be feeling under the weather if it is just from a injury. is she breathing rapidly? this is usually a pretty good sign of stress. you could reduce the stress by adding a little extra oxygen, diming the lights or having it on for less time and water changes. melafix might also be good in this situation.
