Rams are not the most calm trop anyway and any change in their routine may indeed cause the jitters...

If the Ram is eating all may be well but carefully observe for any swelling of the stomach, an indicater of the related Dropsy.

Is that a German Blue or Gold??

Garyroland: don't be so pessimistic! My baby, my bichir, had hemorrhagic septicemia and then popeye right after that, and he made a full recovery It's very possible. People need to try everything they can. My friend also treated a betta that had dropsy so bad he would float out of the water half the time. You just need perserverance, hope, and a big, fat wallet

Watch the existing Ram closely...

There's a good chance the trop may end up with the same disease.

Any sign of eye swelling dose Gentamycin as soon as possible.

Excellent trop...

The reason I ask is that Golds can be a little touchy.

Make sure your water and filtration is of the highest quality.

One of my Rams seems to have pop eye. I have only discovered this today and i'm worried about it.

Two questions:

1, what causes pop eye
and 2, how do you treat pop eye.

Good news, my Rams eye seems to slowly be getting better, but then on the other hand my Ram seems to be acting different, he is more jumpy, and hides most of the time. could this be from stress.

That's why I never post links to websites...

The authors of the sites think they have to respond to every disease and provide encouragement to the reader. In so doing they carelessly prescribe meds that absolutely do nothing to cure the incurable.

Pop-eye often resolves itself but often leads to Dropsy, a related bacterial disease. It's a toss-up.

Since the treatment is worse than the disease and can destroy the water quality of a tank, it's best to wait and see.

Usually when an eye or two are severely popped there's not much one can do, same with Dropsy.

Bacterial in nature, pop-eye is seldomly cured...

It's related to Dropsy and a fluid buildup behind the eye forces the eye outward.

Don't believe the websites that claim cures. They usually suggest antibiotics for the malady but they seldom, if ever, work.

In severe cases the eye will drop out.

Well, I'm afraid it tends to be water quality which affects popeye, so the first step would be to test your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, and do water changes accordingly.
