Red line? | |
cichlidl0ver Fingerling Posts: 22 Kudos: 15 Votes: 3 Registered: 18-Nov-2009 | Hi. One of my two mbuna who are in a 30 gallon tank has gotten this thin red line right before his anal fin. I'm reluctant to think its fin rot because his tail is looking fine- no white fungus and no raggedness. Water parameters: ph: 8.6 ammonia:0 nitrite: 5 nitrate: 10 Any help would be appreciated! |

My first concern have they been chasing each other or could he have hit something? Either way, I would dose with the Melafix, it is a good easy med to have on hand and is good for more issues. Keep us up to date on what happens and keep an eye on them. Hopefully this should help. "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Thomas Carlyle |

Do a water change, along with a deep gravel vac to try and reduce it. How often are you feeding your fish? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Any power outages lately? Established tanks shouldn't have that nitrIte spike. Red lines are common in septicemia, septicemia a result of poor water quality. Melafix wouldnt hurt either. ^_^ |
