I have a 30gal, and every fish is doing well...My Angel is about 4months old and swims all over the tank... Just hasnt eaten anything in about a week now. Lets the flakes, shrimp, bloodworms, just fall right by him....Tried all the above....Any ideas?
the other fish are all older than the Angel and eat just fine....I'm not overstocked, water changes done weekly, water is great.....Just need him to start eating again.
He was so small, and has really grown in the 4 months..

When trops lose their appetite and fail to feed the possibilities of such an action are endless...

In Angels, like Oscars, we look for HITH, hole-in-the-head disease, tiny small holes that appear on the head of the fish.

Internal parasites are also a possibility.

Take a close look at the Angel's head to determine its condition. If clear, suspect parasites which can be treated with "Jungle" Parasite Clear.

I will take a close look tonight, but If you were to just watch him in the tank, you would think he was just acting normal and looks great.....I never have looked that close for any tiny holes...will take a better look when I get home. If nothing is noticable, would treating for Parasites be harmful to the rest of the fish, anyway? Platy's, ADF, Cory's and Plec(who has a nice pond outside waiting for him)...The Angel is a really nice centerpiece and I dont want to lose him....

Believe it or not there are hobbyists who dose parasite meds on a regular basis...

It's not something I would suggest but the effect seems to be harmless.

You're welcome...

Be sure and read the directions on the product and dose accordingly.

Let us know how your Angel reacts. I'd like to see you save the trop.

An indication of a caring hobbyist...

Sometimes a stubborn Angel will take freeze dried Tubifex worms if the cube is broken up a little.

Very much so. Work in the Pond Business for several yrs now, so started outdoors and moved into indoor aquariums now for few yrs.....At this point, I will try any kinda food....Give me some Ideas: Currently, I have Tropical Flakes, Frozen BloodWorms, Mysis Shrimp, Daphnia, Betta Pellets, Sinking Wafers...All Hikari.....Bottom Feeders get Veggies as well.

He is still very active, seems like he is searching for food, comes to the top when I approach the tank, but passes on everything I listed above. Been about 7-8 days now.....ALL my other tanks and Fish could care less what I drop into my tank....Like I mentioned before, for several months, he feasted on all the above....

It's up to the parasite med to do its job...

An Angel that hasn't eaten for several days is most likely a parasite candidate.

Make sure his mouth opens without obstruction. Notice if the trop has any droppings at all and the color of same.

Constipation can occur in trops and some hobbyists would offer a squashed green pea to moderate the problem if the trop will eat.

Nothing can be done until the parasite med starts to work if indeed parasites are the problem.

If he doesnt eat after today, I should do a 20% water change, and dose again ? Per Instructions?

He actually swims around, moving his mouth as if he was talking...I guess I have no choice but to check on him today during feeding, and then dose again, tomorrow///

Everyone else is still eating just fine

Oh sure...

The med may take awhile to work depending on the severity of the parasite(s).

Many times the trops stomach will sink in a little from a lack of food. Activity, I'm sorry to say, is not a sign of health.

After a period of time without food the fish becomes weak and susceptible to disease, so be prepared for the worst if the med fails to do its job.
