I'm pretty sure I saw "jellyfish like" strands coming out of his mouth after he shook his head. The strands were translucent. Does that sound familiar?

Please don't move this thread to hospital. I'm trying to get info quickly.

My guess is that he/she ate something (fish poo, decaying plant) and reguritated it back up. Is there anything in your tank that is stringy? Could you be more specific on what it looked like?

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

No pictures, because it disappeared into the water after a short time, but this fish has been listless for a few days now and barely eating. I'm trying to fiqure out if this is part of an internal infection.

Tetra, this really would do better in the hospital..

Thanks Lindy. I actually posted sick angel in hospital early in week and no one answered, but you could move if you want.

You know what. I'm starting to think my Angel has Fin Rot.
I think the white stuff I spoke of was pieces of fin that got frayed.

Here a description it sounds like my fish:

"The fins begin to fray and get ragged, becoming shorter over time. Usually the edges look white, and may even develop a fuzzy growth due to secondary Cotton Wool infection. A the disease advances the area may become red an inflamed, with bloody patches appearing as more of the fin is eaten away"

Is Melafix best fix?

Until someone can come along and help you in more detail I vote for dosing Melafix. I believe the problem could be that it is a bacterial infection eating at the fins so it may need antibiotics. Since I cant readily get antibiotics or even many meds here in Aus I am not able to advise you which would be best. Melafix for now wont do any harm.
Could there be tank mates having a nibble on the angels fins? Is it possible to move it to a quarentine tank?

Hope the fish gets better.

Lindy,

I've been dosing melafix and a little salt for the last few days now and the fish is definitely getting better, in fact he actually moves to the food and eats alittle. He definitely has red spots at the very end of the fins even the dorsal, but I don't really have any fish in the tank that would do this.

cards, rummys, rams, otos, dwarf plecos.
