Well lastnite I euthanized my neon that was badly infected and so far today is day four since this outbreak started and the fish in my tank so far all look healthy and normal and iam just gonna leave it and do a water change and cleaning again tomorrow and just observe the tank to see if anything else happens.

Iam now currently looking for two more tanks of 20 gallon or smaller so I can start a new tank and let the cycle run.

Iam sorry that I dont have the water stats, I need to get a new water tester and I dont have any transportation right now to the pet store which is cloed at this moment anyways to get a testing done.

I hope this dont cause a problem.

Tank: 10 Gallon
Community: 2 Glo-Lite Tetras,3 Neon Tetras, 3 Other tetras (cant remeber what there called), 1 Betta and the new guy is 1 Mystery Snail.

Did my regular water change last Friday and I added some Nutrafin "Aqua Plus" Tap water conditioner.

I live in Southern Ontario Canada


I woke up yesterday morning and one of my Glo-Lite Tetras was deceased, and i didnt think anything of it cause he was old anyways, and now today when I got up I went and looked at my tank, Like I do every morning and my Betta looks REALLY SICK!

His top fin is all discolored, its like a creamy white and kinda looks like a white scab and his mouth is all white also and looks scabby, his face looks bloated and he has just been lying at the bottom of the tank for most of the day looking REALLY SICK! but he did come up to eat today,

Iam still not really familer with diseases and suck in the tank so iam really really confused and scared and dont know what it is or what to do, can someone help me please ASAP.

Well i have pretty much pin pointed the reason on my my fish are croaking like this,

within the last three days I have lost three fish,

Day 1- Glo Lite Tetra
Day 2- Betta
Day 3- Neon Tetra

and iam 99.9% sure that the disease is NTD ( Neon Tetra Disease)

ANY information that anyone can give me on how to combat this or anything, just any info will help regarding NTD.

Hello Frop and chunkybunk... sorry we didn't get back to you earlier. As far as I know there is no cure for NTD but I haven't had first-hand experience so I'll wait for someone to come along who has.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses. I hope someone can come up with some helpful advice for you.

Unfortunatly @this time there is no known cure for NTD. The best thing is to quarentine for a few months any neon purchases. Yes months. I've read up to six months. As you've unfortunatly already found out it does infect all fish in the tank. @this point I'd suggest not adding anything else to the tank. Some would say to euthanize all the fish you have in there and steralize the tank and start over. You may chose to do this or you may chose to wait. Other symptoms may manifest themselves giving us a better clue as to what the problem is.
