There's absolutely nothing worse than starting a brand new tank and instantly run into trouble...

You were looking forward to choosing the fish that appealed to you.

You were excited about the thrill of watching a tank full of colorful tropicals living like kings and queens in a simulated lake that you worked hard to provide for them.

The scenario was great for awhile. Then some strange things began to happen. Some fish looked a little uneasy and the effort just to swim was becoming a task.

The next day showed little improvement. In fact, one of your favorite tropicals became a floater, a term hobbyists use for a dead fish.

You noticed a coating of some kind of white fuzzy stuff was over the fish and guessed that was what happens to a fish after death.

You were right.

Beginners have a terrible time balancing new tanks. It seems to be a complete mystery to them why the tank gets cloudy, why it turns green, why fish struggle and die.

It's a total disappointment. What you thought was going to be a complete joy to behold is turning out to be a death camp. A sort of "everything I put in the tank dies" type of mentality.

And, believe me, I know where you're coming from. I see it every day here in the Hospital Forum. A testimony that a glass box full of water has become a total enemy. A fish gas chamber.

Is there an answer?? Can the death camp be closed and forgotten??

Yes.

NEXT: Somebody do something. My fish are sick and dying.
