I wasn't in a hurry so I cycled the 90g with guppies and applesnails along with using eco complete substrate keeping the ammonia down below 1ppm. It's now at 0-.25 ammonia can't tell, .5 nitrite, 20 nitrates. One of the guppies has a white spot that looks like it's in her tail and then her whole body is covered in a white film. She doesn't really swim she just wiggles. Bacterial infection? What should I treat with? I still have some maracyn left which the snails survived quite well last time. Unfortunately no hospital tank setup here. As soon as my light, 2nd heater, and filter get here I was planning to move all the plants and then the fish from the 55g and 20g. Then move the guppies to the 20g.

Sounds bacterial...if you have the meds and don't mind treating the whole 90 gallon go for it, if you do, could you run and jut get a cheap 10 gallon, and keep it on hand as a hospital tank? Getting a 10 gallon would be my vote, but it's really up to you...best of luck, heidi

The guppy died and a few of the others look like they have fin rot so the whole tank is being treated. I don't need to leave behind some illness in the tank for when I actually start moving my other fish in. I had that problem with my 55g. I kept treating fish in hospital and illnesses kept showing up again until I treated the main tank instead of just the sick fish.
