Recently I saw that one of my Tiger Barbs was swimming in an unsual way. it seemed to be swiiming sideways and later on in the evening I saw it swimming curved inside. It spent nearly the whole day in hiding from the rest of the barbs. I never had any similar experience and thus decided to seperate it into the hospital tank. Before such unusual behaviour I had treated the tank for ich with Jungle ICH guard for two weeks + 2 days until last spot was not seen. Managed not to lose any fish but I am afraid that the water is still circulating chemicals although partial water changes were maintained every day during the course of the treatment. Any suggestions what this could have been?

Ph = 7.2
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0.1
Nitrate 20
Temp: 26 C
90 litre tank

Niko - how is the fish?

Eratic swimming can be many things. Does it swim slow and struggle to get to mid water or to swim with other fish? Or, is it darting about wildly, spinning as if it doesn't know which way is up?

my guess, would be the tiger barb is dying. it could be from the ich or old age, getting beat up by the other. many things.

Sorry guys, for not answering you back. The fish died a few days later in the hospital tank but lately I saw another barb doing the same thing and removed it to the hospital tank. It seems to be OK now and was placed back into its tank. But lately after this incident I experienced a number of fish that died namely two bala sharks and one dwarf gourami. They seemed to be exhausted and swimming in a very funny way until I found them hiding behind some java fern and found them dead. readings were OK so I suppose it might have been a parasite which had killed them. Until now I did not expereince any more deaths.

Actually to answer to your question, the fish did swim in this manner and most often in circles without any direction.
