My tank is now in the 4th week of the cycling.My ammonia has always been 0,0..i test the water every 4-5 days.
Yesterday i noticed one of my mollies was not in good shape.
His left side of the body near the gills has some red marks(dotts/Spots).2 days now and he is resting at the bottom,he swims when its feeding time but after that he goes down again and rest next to the driftwood and want move from the spot..except when some other fish is going near him.
The water test is:
Ammonia=0,0
PH=7,5
Nitrate=0,2
Nitrite=0,2
Please...what can i do?
Thanks,
Robby

I had a simalr problem amonth ago. It first started as small red spots, then the body of the fish got like this yellowish grey slime allover its body, then the spots turned into streaks. So what i did was go to my LFS and grab this coool med called PARAGON and i quarintened the fish and treated him with this stuff and it worked!!!.....
until my 5 yearold brother siad "Hey Cowee i cot you fissy wook in dis net!" and ran faster than lightning to the bathroom and flushed my perfectly healthy fish down the toilet. But the med did work

I LOVE MY 55GALLON REEF!!!!!

Robby are you truly in Norway? If so, i don't know what your med options are.

If you have melafix you could try that, but with low levels of nitrites the fish is stressed. With nitrates showing, it appears you are on the end stage of cycling. But, he could have been through h&ll with a high nitrite phase and could be experiencing what we call brown-blood disease from that.

Are you using a bacterial starter like Cycle?

I would not using anything beyond Melafix or Pimafix so you don't set your cycle back.

Also, use a small amount of freshwater aquarium salt if you don't already have some in the tank. Predissolve about 1 tsp per gallon and dribble it in all day long so it raises salinity slowly. If you already have some in there, then disregard.

Watch to see if the fish is scratching himself on gravel or decorations.

What else is in the tank - list all fish and other inhabitants. If all you have are mollies, then I may recommend you do a 0.3% salt solution, spread out over 3 days. I'm wondering about potential parasites or costia, for which salt can be effective.

Got live plants?

No i leave in Cyprus now
I have guppys as well..5 of them and 1 common pleco.
i have 3 live plants only.
Iam going to buy more live plants tomorrow as i heard those can help me with the nitrite.
They dont scratch them self at all...just resting at the bottom.
Thanks for your quick reply.

Robby, wait on the plants. Plants can take up ammonia, but not nitrite. Also, with what little salt you are adding, it could hurt the plants.

Now that I know you have a Pleco in there, I would encourage you to use only 1/2 tsp per 3.785 litres or 1/2 tsp per 1 gallon. Especially because of the plec, it needs to be predissolved and slowly added throughout the day to GRADUALLY raise salinity. You can even do this over two days.
