Ok so all has been well with the 55 gallon tank I am working on. But once again my younger pandas seem to be having a problem. I got them past the last little hurdle when their barbels were eroding from the substrate I had. I switched to Eco-Complete and I am happy to say I am seeing slow regrowth. But now they seem to have a baterial/and or fungal infection on their anal and pelvic fins. It is not a puffy/red/white type thing just that most of the fin part is gone and it is just the bone.
I am thinking I am just gonna treat the whole tank as the adults and other fish have already been exposed to so I dont think it would be worth the trouble of putting just the 3 effected ones in the QT tank.
Params:
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10 ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
ph: 7-7.2
Temp 77-78

What kind of medicine should I use? I would need one that doesnt effect plants. I do have Malachite green but I am not sure that would work.
Also what effect will this have on my bateria colonies? My tank is filtered by a Rena XP2 canister filter.
And lastly it seems my 8 week old baby panda is effected so I need some help treating him. I also have a few fry that will hatch anyday. I think I will just move them though.

Thanks for any help.

How long has your tank been runnning?

i would probably recommend quaranting the affected fish if not all fish are showing signs. Once you add meds it does kill off most of your good bacteria and if you could avoid this it would be better.

I wouldnt treat unless ive worked out what is actually wrong with them and then use the correct meds.

Im not an expert with the diagnosis of disease so ill leave that one to the experts! I normally use a multicure type of med that does contain malachite green which seems to work.

Truth doesn't always win friends but it influences them

The tank has been going for 5 months now. I have been thinking about it and I guess I will just qouarantine the effected ones like you said. Like I said there is only 2 and the fry. I do have malachite green at hand so I will most likely use that.
Thank you.

Well I started treatment. I used malachite green as I have used it before ad it works very well. My 8 week old panda is doing the worst. Hopefully once he gets settled into the QT he will begin to eat so that he can keep up his stregnth and fight this off. The other two are doing fine. Any advice would be great.

Most meds effect badly catfish especially cory, CL. So be careful on the dose you are using in the tank
