	Unexpected ghost fish death
fishandchips Small Fry Posts: 6 Kudos: 8 Votes: 0 Registered: 03-Apr-2005	Hi I purchased 6 ghost fish earlier this week. They were schooling fine and seemed perfectly happy. However, when I woke up this morning, the ghost fish was dead at the bottom of the tank and had turned very white in colour. Can you help me please? I have 25 fish and do not want to see the same happen to them. My tank conditions are as follows: No3: 10 No2: 1 GH: 16 (Is this too high? If so, how do I correct this?) Kh: 3 PH: 7.2

Can you give an ammonia reading, since you have a reading for nitrites, it looks like the tank hasn't finished cycling yet. I think it may be that the ammonia levels are too high as more of my fish are displaying signs of discomfort - silver sharks are making erratic movements and hockey sticks are quite lifeless at the top of the tank. How do I neutralise the ammonia content? Thanks

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004	if they are black ghost then they are kindof picky of there water temp, with most fish they don't do well in sudden water changes going from warm to cool. if only one died and u just got them, then i wouldn't be concerned, but if more start dieing then a mini change should happen.
