Recently the water in my betta's bowl has been getting foggy real fast, lke 2-3 days after water change. Also today i noticed that the betta's "poop", feces is white. I keep my betta on betta food and everything else is normal except the water fogging and white feces. Anyone have a explination of why? thanks.

Have you tested your water? ammonia, nitrite, and ph? If you don't have the tests get your pet store to test it for you. It sounds like there is something going on with your water. Also have you changed anything that you put in your water? Declor, salt etc.

your betta might have a bug, try just keep changing his water when cloudy. like light said try checking the water. might try feeding ur betta something different.

Can you tell us what country you are in? This will help us to help you if you need meds.

White feces can be a sign of parasites, but it can also be a sign of serious internal infection.

I'm just sitting her wondering whether this fish actually has diarrhea which could be clouding the tiny cup or bowl.

He has a good apetite? Is he a little on the thin side or normal? Or, is his belly bloated?

What size container is he in?

thanks for your concerns. First off my betta is fine. All except, now that i take a closer look it has white stringy things growing off its scales. Also there is white stringy debry floating around in the water. I keep my betta in a 1 liter glass jar. I also noticed that there are thin crust like things forming on the surface of the water. I m sry i cant list the parameters cause i dont have enough money. thanks again

- If your betta looks healthy, I think what you are seeing is simply the results of a bubble nest that has come apart and created a film on the surface. Bettas give off saliva or some other substance that creates that film. When the betta swims around, it gets caught in their scales and makes little stringy things. I remember how I panicked the first few times until I figured it out.

Make sure you actually see the fish poop white. Put a mirror in front of him and get him flaring, which will sometimes prompt a poopie . Then you can look at it as it's coming out.

Can you put a flag up for your country so we know where you are at. People will give advice that may not apply to you, depending on where you are.

Many fish stores here in the US and Canada, and I think the UK and Aus, will test water for free. However, if you are just keeping him in a still 1L container, then hopefully you are changing the water like weekly. Ideally, in that size, I would be changing it twice weekly.
