Hi,
I have a planted Aquarium with 2 Angelfish, 4 glass catfish, Kribs and a Silver/Bala Shark. I recently made my weekly water change and noticed one of my Krib's had a swollen eye which has turned out to be popeye disease, i had failed to noticed this earlier as it was hidden away behind the heater and plants, so i began treatment for it this morning, as i was preparing the treatment i noticed that my Silver Shark had White Spot i think this was introduced with some Neon Tetra's i bought the other day which i added to the tank and next morning turned out to have White Spot so i took them back my local fish store.

My concern is, Which disease should i treat FIRST as i have heard that White Spot can kill fish if left untreated for a while but at the same time my Krib's eye looks like it is going to pop anytime soon???

I would be very grateful for your answer's on this...
Thanks in advance. I Hope the information below helps too..

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
pH: 6.6
Temp: 82f 28c

Well, there may be a way to treat them simultaneously, but I don't know it!

Your best course of action would probably make sure that you have -very- good water during the treatment, as that is usually the cause of popeye. And its good for the fish. Your parameters seem good, but you are missing a NitrAte reading.

Since fish can do fine with just one eye, I'd go about treating the whitespot first. Keep a watch if the popeye seems to worsen or if the fish starts to bloat. In some cases, popeye can be linked as a symptom of dropsy.

Do you add salt to your aquarium? If your fish are all salt tollerant try adding some as this will help with the ick. We are talking about aquarium salt of course, not cooking salt. Ask your LFS if you can use medicine for both diseases simultaneously. If not consider how much you value the fish that has pop eye. If it's valuable to you, add salt to help you a bit with ick and treat it first to give it a chance.

Thanks again for your answers...

As i've already started treatment for the Popeye how would i ensure Very good water as i can't changed any water during the treatment or can i?

The Krib is looking more sluggish today and still hiding behind the heater, i had to net it just to see have much more it had worsened and it was pretty easy to catch which to me doesn't look like a good sign.

I'm treating the Popeye with Interpet No.9 Anti- Internal Bacteria which says it treats for swollwen eyes, open sores/ulcers, abdominal swelling/Dropsy besides others.

I can't test for Nitrate as i don't have the test kit for this but will invest in one immediatley...

The Bala shark is the only one showing signs of White Spot and looks active as normal, Should i treat the Popeye first then treat for White spot???

I think my fish can tolorate some Salt, Could anyone tell me the procedure to this? with the treatment i am using for the popeye the leaflet that came with it suggests the treatment would work best with Aqualibrium Tonic Salt could i use this to treat the White spot aswell as use it to work with the popeye treament?

Anymore suggestions would be much appreciated
