Wierd... Finrot? | |
niggit Fish Addict Posts: 631 Kudos: 282 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-Jan-2003 | hello! i have a discus with a type of fungal or bacteria infection (i think) unlike any i've seen before: it seems to only be affecting where his pectoral fins join his body... the fins themselves are fine, as well as the rest of his body. i noticed when i first got him that this part of him was a slightly different (lighter) colour than that of the rest of the fish, and that they seemed slightly 'puffy.' i monitored it, and it has now progressed and it looks like he is rotting. poor guy. all the other fish are fine, and the water quality is excellent (i test regularly for pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate). any thoughts? |

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Being close into the body it would be easy for it to infect the internal organs and kill the fish. Id isolate the fish in a hospital tank, and treat with Jungle Fungus Eliminator (not clear), or Furan-2, and some aquarium salt. Dose meds 100% then do 50% water changes daily and re-dose meds at 50% daily. Good luck. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

It chemically bonds to surfaces and once in the tank you cant ever get it out, rendering the tank useless for many plants, inverts, and some fish like loaches. I also wouldnt trust copper on a sensitive fish like a discus. Tetracycline - if the fish you have are breeding fish, or you plan to breed them, dont use this. Tetracycline causes severe birth defects and can cause infertility. Antifungus wont work either. Also for the cory eggs, I use Pimafix for my egg hatching. Works great. What you need is Furan2, Maracyn 2, Jungle Fungus Eliminator (which is same as furan 2), or something like that. You need a gram negative anti bacterial.
