Hey Guys,
I think my guppies have worms, I left them in the care of a friend for a few weeks and upon returning home they all appear to have extremely long white worms. Can someone suggest the proper treatment for this?

You seen the fish poop the worms? If so, what color?

Are you in the US? If so, there is a new medicated food by Jungle that was only available at Petsmart. Jungle says it will be more widely available the end of this month. It is called Jungle Anti-Parasite Medicated Food.

Otherwise, Jungle Parasite Clear Tank Buddies with the active ingredient Praziquantel is pretty good. This would not be effective for camallanus, a red worm that dangles from their vent while at rest.

What other symptoms do the fish have? Are they skinny? Bloated?

Hey guys,
The worms are light colored and extremely long, they seem to coming out at all times, not just when resting. None of my fish appear to be skinny or bloated. I can't really see any difference in them apart from the worms. They all appear to be eating fine also.

Should i try this medicine from Petsmart? I can order it easily off the website.

Medicated feed is usually better. But, the Parasite Clear fizz tabs are good for intestinal parasites and that is usually available at most pet stores and stores like Walmart. It goes in the water and is quite safe for most fish. If they truly have intestinal worms, then the Praziquantel should make them expel the bugs within the first four hours or 1 day of the first dose. I don't know if it is safe for inverts like snails/crayfish tho. Also, It could take up to 9 days to get that medicated food delivered.

If you buy Parasite Clear Tank Buddies Fizz Tabs, make sure one of the active ingredients is Praziquantel. They changed the formula to include this last year and some stores may still have old stock. It is the Prazi that makes them expel worms quickly and effectively.

Take note that the food is in the form of larger pellets, but Jungle states on the package that it can be crushed.

Once again, if these are red in color, the Prazi won't work and the medicated food will have to be used. Camallanus nematodes are treated best with levamisol, which is also in the medicated food, along with metronazidole.
