The only time he seems to move is to eat, which is a good sign I guess. The tank has been up and running for 4 months now. All water tests are fine, have not changed any feeding methods. My maintenance has remained the same 30% water changes once weekly. p.h. is a constant 8.0. tempt 79-80 Does not seem to be being harassed by the other fish. Could just be one of those unexplained things. I would hate to losse this guy he was my first cichlid. ![]() ![]() tommyc attached this image: ![]() |

I feed this tank Omega One cichlid flakes frozen bloodworm 3 times weekly frozen brine shrimp 3 times weekly and european shrimp mix 2 weekly. I don't think it is s.b., but will keep an eye on it I think I will move him to the hospital tank today if he is still in the same position when I get home from work. Once again I thank you for showing an interest. Tom. Last edited by tommyc at 30-Sep-2004 08:35 |

Posts: 3265 Kudos: 811 Votes: 46 Registered: 08-Aug-2000 ![]() ![]() ![]() | It appears to me that your Yellow is a female. I don't see the distinctive black colors of a male. Since I think this is a female, what I see in that picture is a female that is very intimidated. I wish I could see all its fins. Is the tail fin frayed or am I seeing things? Do you have other Yellows in this tank? If so you may have a male in there that is pestering this one. I wouldn't suggesting having any fewer than 3 females for every male. Yellows are cave dwellers. They like to have places to hide. Are there sufficient hidey holes in the tank? Last edited by Tammy at 30-Sep-2004 08:43 |

I started with one male and bought 2 (of what I thoght were females). Turns out 1 was a male so I had 2 males and 1 female in the same tank. Same exact behavior until I removed the 2 males to my spare tank, she was instantly back to normal. I returned one male to the LFS and am waiting to get a comprbale size female so I can reunite them and hopefully breed. If you dont have more than one in your tank this wont apply but judjing by your picture and the behavior you described I think you do. |
