In our 72 gallon discus tank, we added 8 cardinal tetras, about a week ago. I will see them floating out of control, and then they are soon dead. Or will come home from work, and theyre is one floating at the top. As of today, we are down to 2!!!!!! Why is this happening, and it isnt affecting any of our other fish, including the discus!!!!!! The tank is a prime place for those fish to survive. What is goin on?

how did you acclimate them?
it is pretty normal to lose a few when first introduced into a tank. i bought 20 a few months ago and i lost one on the way home (in the bag) and 4 more within a few days of putting in tank. i have had fifteen now for quite sometime and they seem very hardy now.
also, how long has your discus tank been setup?

i agree with acei, sounds like an acclimation problem.. inproper acclimation can cause swim bladder problems, that can cause fish to swim oddly. Sadly Swim Bladder Problems are often fatal.. which is why i think its this in your case.. Hmm your got an odd case there...

Adding 20 fish at one time? That just sounds like a really really bad thing to do.

Add fish slow and you wont have as many problems.

A few things to check all water peramiters please?
How did you introduce them to the tank?
What else is in the tank?
Did you feed then straight away?
What size were they young or old fully grown?
They all could have been a bad lot from the LFS.
I would not even make a guess until I saw these questions answered.
Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

What is your acclimatising process?
Do you know what pH they are kept at in the shop?
Maybe it was just a bad batch, perhaps get them from a different shop next time.
