Mouth fungus is best treated with Erythromycin (Maracyn), or you can use something like Furan-2. For mild cases you may have luck with Fungus Clear Tank Buddies or Fungus Eliminator. All are antibiotic/antimicrobial based. Other meds, including tetracycline and sulfa based meds may work too, but these can be extra hard on the biofilter in comparison to the previous stuff I mentioned.

I'm not sure about the med you speak of.

Salt is helpful too, but it must be predissolved and dribbled in gradually over a span of a day or two.

As Cory-Di said you have to pre-dissolve the salt first. The easiest way to do this would be to boil some water and add the salt to it, stirring it in. Then put it in a container you will be using and let it cool...This is the simpliest way to get the salt to dissolve. I know Diane has mentioned in another post not to let the salt touch the fish as it will burn them, then you will have more problems.--Heidi

ps Diane, just thought I'd add that since you didn't, and knew it would be helpful...Heidi

It may work to just use hot tap water too. I do this with the Doc Wellfish type.

Generally, you can use 1 tsp per gallon for bettas. Dribbling in a little every few hours allows him to acclimate slowly to the increase in salinity.
