Okay, im still trying to get to the bottom of this cloudy water and now i am seeing clearish white fuzz dots attached to the glass of my ten gallon. they are all individual-not attached to each other or in groups but they are ALL OVER. they're very small, the size of the head of an ink pen, and they are not strings, they are dots with a little fuzz, sort of like clear algae.

The shell of my apple snail has it growing on her as well. i have moved her to a separate tank though, because im treating the ten gallon with salt, quick cure, and melafix. the quick cure is for ich and the melafix im hoping will kill this fuzzy dot thing. however, it must not be working because the water has been cloudy for four days and i just noticed that they were attached to the glass this morning, so what should i use to kill this, and what is it?

If they sway with the current of the water, It's ok. It's an algae bloom that occurs with cycling. I get it too. I'm cycling a ten gallon and it has it all over the place too. It will go away when the tank is finished cycling.

thanks. they do sway with the current. i wonder why its clearish in color and not green. wiil it go away or do i have to remove it with a sponge or something? its also all over my artificial plants. it's really bugging me because it makes the tank seem even cloudier, you know, since it's spotting the glass.

i think i might stop the ich treatment and let the fishs' immune systems fight it because id rather hang on to my good bacteria and not have these minicycles disrupting everything. i may lose one or two fish, but having a stable tank is worth it in the long run, right?

I would continue the Ich treatment. The tank cycle will be fine. It will recover, but the fishies won't.... don't worry about the clear algae. It will go away....it's a good sign that the tank is cycling properly.
