i have a comet gold fish that i found curled around a air tube. the water i ok since the other gold fish are alive. anyway i got it in the net, and i can't see the gills moving, but once and a while he twiches and a air bubble comes out his mouth. is he alive?

If he is alive he is only just. Do him a favour and put him out of his misery.

Oh, and just because the other fish are okay it doesnt mean the water is. Check it.

Yes, as Lindy said check the water parameters, just because only one is suffering doesn't mean everything is ok...it could be that he was the weekest of the bunch and so is the first to suffer...Also take in mind how large is your tank? What kind of filtration are you running? How often and how much are your water changes?

Lindy, is there anyway that it could be posted how to humanly put a fish out of it's misery? I know it is a morbid thing we all must deal with from time to time, but me being selfishly picky hate it when it's being discussed in chat, because it is such a depressing thought that we all have to go through from time to time as responsible pet owners...
