![]() | fungus on golden barb |

Recently one developed large white patch on the side. I removed to hospital and treated with anti-fungus. The barb appears to be really skittish and stressed even after 4 days in the hospital tank. The spot seemed to shrink slightly but not go away totally. There is a small visible open wound that appears to have "eaten" through the scales but it is not bleeding. Are these typical symptoms of fungus? Shall I keep in hospital until all symptoms disappear and then return to main tank? Any assistance will be appreciated. |

Sometimes they're an indicator of TB, a contageous malady. But, let's consider this case as a skin ulcer that must be treated with an antibiotic like Tetracycline or Maracyn along with dosing Melafix, an anticeptic. The combination of both these meds has been successful in treating skin ulcers on trops. Treat as soon as possible before the ulcer spreads. --garyroland. |
