The beginnings of HITH (Heximita) that usually involve some Cichlids, is indeed small holes that start in the head of the trop...

My favorite med for HITH is "Parasite Clear" because it contains the ingredient most used to control Heximita.

Start dosing as soon as possible and make sure diet and water quality are tops. Some suspect poor water and diet contribute to the protozoan parasite.

My research has told me it's possible the protozoan parasite, Hexamita, may be present in low levels in some fish but will remain harmless until the trop loses some resistance through bad diet and bad water quality.

Because we're not positive what triggers the attack, we can only give educated guesses, and there's mine.

I know in the UK, Waterlife's "Octozin" has been tried on HITH.
