I have some goldies that each have 1 or 2 white dots on the tail. NOt on the body and not raised like salt grains. They are more fuzzy found the edge than that.

I have been putting ich away in the tank once a week for the last few weeks. How long till I notice a diff?

How long after the dots go should I continue the treatment?

thanks in advance...

The ich should be gone by now. It sounds to me more likely your fish may have fin and tail rot, if the spots are on the edges. The ich treatment will not help this condition, if it is fin and tail rot. You will need to do a good water change, and treat with some antibiotics.

goldies? this is news!

are they in the main tank? are you putting in the full dose?

If its fluffy around the edges, i tend to agree, try Multicure or FungusAde

The goldies are in my work tank. Main tank...that would be a good 'un, don't know how they would cope with the pH with the new substrate.
They wouldn't like it at all.

I will try a broader med. Hope my little friends will be okay soon, I loves 'em so much.

Will write down the suggestions and get the medicine when I get paid tomorrow.
(I am scared to go to the shops this time of year It is just frantic for parking isn't it?)

Wait Not like grains of salt
Then are you sure it's ich? If its not ich you wouldn't really be seeing any results with ich meds .

If I remember correctly maricide handles ich, as well as fungus and a few others...might want to give it a look while you're there.

Rats. I didn't have the names written down and got "Melafix" instead.

I won't open it in case it is the wrong thing. I have the receipt and maybe can exchange it.

Can someone pse tell me if the Melafix is going to be of any use at all or should I exchange it?

ta in advance

IMO & Experience melafix does NOT work as a medication. It's useful to have on hand for after dosing with real meds. Also good for if you've just noticed a cut.

If money is tight, go ahead and return it, but it is one of the few bottles I keep on hand for "just in cases"

Hope that answers something :%).

It also may be Fishpox or Carp Pox. Have a read here:

http://www.koivet.com/html/glossary/glossary_results.php?glossary_id=39&search_term=carp%20pox

The spots can be very small, like slightly larger than ich cysts, but the appearance is different, not as raised, a little "softer" looking almost...
