I have four gouramies (sp) & they all have a few little black spots on them. They have apeared in the last 72 hours none of my other fish have them. They show no other sympotoms.

What is this called? is it a problem? how do i fix it?

thanks

Do you have any snails in your tank, or any new plants?

There is a disease called black spot, but it isn't very common, and its mighty hard to treat, though thankfully it isn't that dangerous to the fish.

I have plasic plants & no snails (but I do want to get some for my pufferfish tank when it's set up - tasty food).

Any other suggestions?

black spot is FW too.

it could be injuries, fish scabs can appear black...

I'm really not sure. Is it affecting the fish at all?

my fish seem ok. none of my other fish have it but the goramys all have it. They are not in distress (I don't think).

where are these dots?

It could just be the gourami markings (i know some gouramis have dots near their tails)

the spots are rondomly over their bodies, about 4-5 per fish they are aa similar size to white spot.

IMHO they are not markings but I could be wrong.
