Double check your water parameters...How long has the tank been set up? What size of tank is it? How many guppies did you have in it to begin with?

What are your nitrites? nitrates? Ammonia? pH? Chlorine?Check everything...What else is in the tank with the guppies?

What is the temp of the tank? Is it staying stable? You haven't by chance sprayed anything in or around the room the tank is? Airfreshner and pesticides have a way of finding the one place you don't want them to go, and getting there...

Next what I want you to do is go and do a 50% water change/gravel vaccume...change your carbon, and any other filtration material you might have, do this now...but be sure to replace the water with treated water, and water that is as close to the same temperature as what you took out...

Do this, get your water parameters today your LFS should be able to do it for free and be able to confirm your tests at home...I'd take them a sample of before the water change is made, and after...just to be sure it isn't the water parameters...Be sure not to treat your water with Ammo-Lock and related stuff, they will give you a false reading on your tests...I use Stress Coat and it doesn't give problems

Again do this and let us know...Best of luck--Heidi

How long has the tank been set up

its been up and going for about 14mths
------------------------------------------------
What size of tank is it

the tank is under 4ft x14x16
------------------------------------------------
How many guppies did you have in it to begin with

there are about 60 i think
--------------------------------------
What are your nitrites? nitrates? Ammonia? pH? Chlorine?Check everything...

i checked all this 2 days ago. so i did it again last night it was Acid big time so did a water change and all that today and its all good so for lost about 16guppies all up in 2 days
---------------------------------------------------
What else is in the tank with the guppies?

just guppies
------------------------------------------------------
What is the temp of the tank?

will i cheched that last night too it was just on 30 but when i got up about 6am it was on about 22 so a big drop in temp over night to so i have put the heater back on
-------------------------------------------------------
Is it staying stable? You haven't by chance sprayed anything in or around the room the tank is? Airfreshner and pesticides have a way of finding the one place you don't want them to go, and getting there...

noi have not done this at all i dont think
---------------------------------------------------------
Next what I want you to do is go and do a 50% water change/gravel vaccume...change your carbon dont have then in the tank, and any other filtration material you might have, do this now...but be sure to replace the water with treated water, and water that is as close to the same temperature as what you took out...

that all been done and the water temp and all that was great

Thanks for all your help Heidi

I really think I know what the problem is...

Your temperature is fluctuating way too much in too short of a time period...even in C it is 8 degrees in a very short time...So luckily this is something that is easy to fix

Set your heater at 25*C and leave it there...if you notice that your heater is not maintaining the temperature adjust it...I know some of mine I have to fuss and fight with, while a couple of others have the temp gage to set on the side. But set the heater, and leave it plugged in and in the tank at all times. What is basically happening is your fish are suffering from the equivalent of shock and hypothermia...(I too did this once when I was moving, and my guppies got too cold too fast).

Set the heater, check you temp 2 times a day or more if possible, and see if this helps. I'm willing to bet that your problems with dead guppies will soon be gone .

Now if there is a plus side to having guppies it is this, you will soon have just as many as you did a few weeks ago, because we all know how guppies are:%)

Let us know if this helps...heidi

I'm still holding out that the main problem was the temperature fluctation, and that has caused your poor little guppies to be highly stressed, and more susceptible to anything else that they may have been able to fend off otherwise.

Give the temperature stabilization a chance to work. But, be prepared that you will probably have a bad case of ich to go through before this is all said and done. Don't treat for it yet, you may be able to avoid it.
