	opaline gourami
victimizati0n Banned Posts: 1217 Kudos: 1105 Votes: 31 Registered: 29-Apr-2004	Ok, i looked at my gourami this morning, and my opline gourami has a white speck on the upper part of it's gill plate (It is above the fin, behind the eye) It is in-between the gil, and the fish's body. It does look like ich, but there is only one dot, my fish are normal, and showing no signs of stress. Water conditions are fine. any ideas on what this can be? Fake edit* Also, i DO put aquari-sol in my tank as an ich prevenitive, so i doubt it is ich, but who knows.

One speck is not an indication of ich but some trops, those in good condition, can indeed fight off ich diseases and that one speck may be the start, or an indication that the fish's immunity is working. If I were you I'd never dose any preventative meds for ich. The ich parasite(s) are not dummies and will develop a resistance to the constant use of the med and then you're in big trouble. --garyroland.

victimizati0n Banned Posts: 1217 Kudos: 1105 Votes: 31 Registered: 29-Apr-2004	Thanks gary. I will look at it to see if more come, etc. Also, we have been usding it for over 20 years (or my dad has) and he has never gotton an ich outbreak (also, every tank he had has had clown loaches in it)

I've always believed it's better not to dose meds for preventative purposes but I realize the dosing goes on no matter what I say. I can guarantee that many bacterial diseases do build an immunity to the constant use of meds and when disease does break out, if it breaks out, the meds fail to do their job. I see you've changed your flag to the flag of Switzerland. Good for you. It's a beautiful country. --garyroland.
