riftlake_kid![]() Fingerling Posts: 20 Kudos: 30 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Dec-2003 ![]() | hi my severum has been sick for a while now. i will tell u the story now everything i possibly can. he is flickering his ventral fins mostly constantly and also his other fins he flickers. he clamps his anal and dorsal fin. he bends himslef. yawns wide very too often. very lethargic. flashing and scratching very often. he is still eating fine. we origonally thought it was flukes but he responded to neither copper safe or the very potent clout. when i treated him with clout the first time it seemed to slow what ever it was down. just before third and final clout treatment he was worse than ever. i figured it wasnt doing anything for him and stopped. he hasnt gotten better at all. me and my friends figure if it was anyhting parasitic that clout would have killed it so now we r thinking it may be an internal bacteria infection. but dont those symptoms i mentioned sound very parasitc like symptoms? but he didnt respond to clout. i am running out of ideas here and i have to save my little buddy. could this be bacterial infection or it couldnt with the symptoms mentioned? would tetracycline help? i have some right now. also i have persc do antibiotics need to be placed in the water also because i would much rather just administer it in his food. he is the only fish in his tank parameters r fine its a 55 gallon. i would like to think im fairly experienced in this hobby and would like to skip all the basic maintence answers please. cause i need to help him as qucikly as possible. thank you, please please help my little buddy. |

trystianity![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1028 Kudos: 926 Votes: 49 Registered: 20-Mar-2004 ![]() ![]() | Flashing does tend to be parasitic, advanced parasitic infections can lead to secondary bacterial infections but in this case I don't think you really have enough to go on to be dosing strong antibiotics. Experienced aquarist or not, I ask everyone who posts regarding sick fish to give some water quality information. NUMBERS please, "fine" is too relative a term. Clout does tend to work quite well, but IMO it stresses fish to the point where it only makes them worse sometimes. Jungle Parasite Clear Tank Buddies is a good all-round antiparasitic to try, and is readily available. |
