The egg sack is their food supply...

When it disappears the fry can be fed very fine flake food, newly hatched brine shrimp or store bought "livebearer fry formula" in a tube.

they are soo weak, and i know its their food source, out of the original 29 i now have 17 still living, and i guess 2 are active enough to try this thing they call swimmingso thats a probable 2 live of 29, i guess thats better than none, most lye on their sides, but some sit up-right and peddle their fins and some even try out their tails, i noticed on some that their egg sacks have finally grown a little smaller, boy, i wish theye had an adult fish to care for them im gunna wait till they are free swimming, to start feeding them a little

IME the fry can only dart in very small areas for the first few days. As Gary said above you can feed them any of the above, I generally take whatever I'm feeding the adults, place it in a ziplock bag (those that know me, are chanting now) zip the baggy, and crush it to a fine powder that way...less messy...I also tend to just do this in bunches and feed my adults the same mix crushed finally...helps if there happens to be more fry in the tank also...Best of luck, once the female gets older more fry will survive, then watch out....Heidi
