judz![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 256 Kudos: 160 Votes: 5 Registered: 06-Jun-2005 ![]() ![]() | my female powderblue gouramis scales seem to be coming off in one spot. there are no fish that are aggressive enough in the tank to create a wound. there was one male PB one male standard dwarf and one male pearl. now i moved the male dwarf to another tank. is this a disease or wound that will heal? |

To quote the essential message: “I was reading this morning that Gouramies (all of them) actually are very territorial and can get into nasty fights with each other when they feel their space is in danger. I don’t know if that is true, I only had one. You might want to keep an eye on that as well. It might not have happened yet because the situation is still so new for the fish.” I think your fish have settled and the territory fight started. Now, this doesn’t mean that one fish must have actually bitten of the scales; it could have happed when the fish “ran away” and he hit something in the tank with full force. I think you should treat the fish with an anti-fungal medicine to avoid secondary infections. Can I be sure of this prediction: No - so keep an eye on all other fish (also their behavior) and make sure they don’t loose scales as well. Hope this helps, Ingo ![]() |
