There's a lot of things I, or anybody else here needs to know before we can help and really knows whats going on!

Please post your water parameters(NitrItes and NitrAtes, etc.) and what kinds of fish you have in the tank. Also could you tell us how often you do water changes, and how long you've had your tank?

we have had our tank for 6 weeks, i cant tell you the water levels as the local aquarium shop does our water testing for us and has told us there is still levels of nitrite but it is still cycling and all is normal, we havent had to much luck with filters though, when we bought the tank it came with a real cheap foam filter and we changed it out with a new one about the first week we had it but that submersable filter was sucking the fish into it so we went back and replaced it with a tc500-weipro, and we are experiencing problems with that as well, about every two days we need to take it out and flush the filter out as the pump filter blocks and little water flow comes from the pump.what do we do????????????

the fish we have are;
1-globe eye
1-fantail
1-black moore
1-comet
1-molly
1-black tetra
2-bristele nose catfish
6-fire neons
2-female fighters

Polly,
Thats a lot of fish to have in a tank the size you have. You need to decide if you are going to keep cold water fish or tropical fish that need a heater.

You have quite a few goldfish types(coldwater) in the tank. That tank is far too small for them so they need to go to a new larger home soon or be returned to the shop you got them from.

If you dont want to keep a heated tank then you need to rehouse the 1-molly 1-black tetra 2-bristele nose catfish 6-fire neons 2-female fighters. When you decide on what sort of tank you want to keep we can help you sort out a stocking list as there are problems with groupings of those fish you have.

The cloudiness you are experiencing in the tank is normal for a tank that is establishing. It is the bacteria that keeps your tank cycled forming.

The damaged scales you see on the fish could very well be effects from going through the cycling process. With that amount of fish in the tank they ammonia and nitrite levels would of been huge causing burns to their bodies and gills. Do the fish appear to have any other problems? Are they eating?

Please get some test kits for yourself. Its much easier to diagnose problems without having to rely on a fish shop being open. Tank disasters dont keep shop hours.

Where in Aus are you from? Maybe one of us aussies could help you find a lfs that is a little more reliable than the one you are going to now.

As you have such a large stock list in the tank right now I would suggest making feeding minimal. Your filtration is going to have troubles keeping up.
