i have a 55 gallon tank and one of the female rainbows in there has been staying at the surface all morning, looking like she's slightly gasping for air. no other fish in the tank is doing this and everyone else seems to be fine. i looked at her and the only outward thing i can see is that her fins are slightly ragged and on her tail there seems to be like a tiny bump inside it (it almost looks like a tumor would, it's been there for awhile now, but i don't think that is the problem). she isn't even just staying in the place where the water comes out of the filter (oxygen bubbles etc). she just goes around the surface. she didn't even take notice of food this morning. (the last fish that died was a golden barb, last week, that i think might have been constipated? i have no idea, all i know is that one day i looked at it and it's stomach was bulging out a lot and looked like it was bleeding from the inside).
any ideas?

(ammonia - 0, nitrite showed up as less than .1 which i think is wrong as the tank has been set up for over a year, nitrate at 5-10).

Sorry but the fish sounds like it isn't going to make it, if it has a tumour and ragged fins which are a second infection and gasping the outlook dosn't look great, sorry.

i am not 100% if it's a tumor or not. i can't really figure out what it is.
the ragged fins..that may be from some of the fish nipping at it's fins, as i just noticed a couple of the golden barbs doing it.
and the gasping, she goes up and then back down for a little bit but stays up there more..but it is definitely breathing a lot more than the other rainbows in there.
