Hi,

I have a question about some of the molly frie that I managed to save from certain doom in my community tank. I rescued about 20 or so of them and currently they're in a tiny plastic tank which is standing right next to my screen here. Anyway, two of these fry seem to have some sort of swimming bladder (is that the english word) defect and they sink to the bottom like little rocks when they don't swim actively. Is this something that will heal in time or is it better to just terminate them while they are still very young (a week now)?

thanks!
Martin

That is up to you.

I myself would only do that if I am absolutely sure that there is no external causes (environmental) that can be rectified.

Are the fry still eating?

yeah, they eat alright, but it's a bit sad to see them struggle to get to the food, or when the flakes are lying in the floor to see thne sort of roll ove over to get their mouth near the food. It's only those two who have the problem, the twenty or so others are just fine.

Since they are still eating I would give them a chance.

I could tell yu a fishy story of survival that would make you think that almost anything is possible.
