Ok sorry i'm being such a pain, my poor little guys need help, not grief. So if you dont know were I stand yet read "suddenly sick bettas HELP" in labyrinth forum. So what i should not use a tap water treatment?? then what do i do for the chlorine and chloramine? I do water changes every week, should i do partial changes or full????What am i doing wrong, me and my wife have become quite attached to these fish and want to help them and treat them right.we have 4 other male bettas and 2 female, two of which have just mated which it would seem i need a little more schooling on taking care of them more instead of trying to breed them........these numbers are for the current tanks they are in, i have moved them into somewhat smaller tanks and added Melafix to all of them.
1.Shayne-is in a 1 quart bowl right now, he has gained some color back since the bowl change but has lost movement in his left pectoral fin, it seems to be stuck to the side of his body.he is still not eating, and tends to mostly be sitting on the gravel, but has been moving a little more.his ph is 7.2, ammonia is 0 ppm, nitrite is 0 ppm, i don't have test for nitrate and temp is 77 degrees.
2.Red-is in a 2 quart mini habitat. he never really lost color but recently there is a large white discoloration coming up from under his face and working its way up. his left pectoral fin is also seemingly stuck to his body and he has not moved from the bottom except to get air. also not eating.his ph is 7.2, ammonia is 0 ppm, nitrite is 0 ppm and 79 degrees.(Shayne and Red shared a 2.5 gallon mini-bow tank for approx. 1 month before sickness)
3.Isaac-Is also in a 2 quart mini habitat. he is a little different he hangs out at the top, has the same pectoral fin problem as the other 2 and alsodoes not eating. other than pectoral fin no other visible signs on fishes body. Isaac shared a 2.5 mini-bow tank with another male that passed today before i had removed each of them from the tank.ph is 7.2, ammonia is 0 ppm, nitrite is 0 ppm, and temp. is 79 degrees.
I hope i remembered all the info you needed please ask if i didnt, otherwise any help is greatly appreciated.

Jessnick,

Sorry but I really have no experience with Bettas so I won't be of much use. But I did want to check something that somebody else will probably ask, so At least save time by asking now.

You say the males were sharing a tank, I'm assuming there was a divider in the tank, is that correct ?

Also is there anyway you canget a nitrate test done ? This could be very important.

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

thank you for replying yes there was a divider in each which was pretty much transparent other than a couple of plants attached at the top of the divider and 3 plants on each side on the gravel to obscure some of the view. i have a freshwater master test kit but it does not have a nitrate test, are they available at a place like Petco?

PLEASE REPLY IN THE ABOVE THREAD
