I had a glo light tetra die(one out of six). Rather quickly and unexpectedly.

I saw her on Sunday and everything seemed OK then. Went to feed tonight and noted her stuck on filter intake, barely alive. One thing I noted, her whole bottom had turned black and blue.

55 gallon tank, mostly other tetras, plus 5 corey cats, small pleco, 4 ottos, and siamese algae eater. I just added 2 kuli loaches last weekend. I haven't seen them both together in a while. I'm concerned one of those may be dead and I can't find.

Water parameters good the last time I checked - never a problem. I keep up with water canges.

Any ideas?

Sorry for your loss, look every where in the tank, under rocks and ornaments, you will be surprised what they can fit in.

hmm - well, turning black is less of a bad sign than turning white. It's possible that the fish got some sort of burn, if your water perams are fine, then it would be worth checking the filter in case the fish burned on it.

Watch out for an other symptoms in your other tetras, lack of appetite, inability to control swimming position and whirling, strange discolouration, etc. Tetras can carry a range of protazoan diseases and it's always worth keeping an eye out for these.

I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions
